Pegbar is an Irish Animation Networking event and resource. Pegbar’s founders are Ben Hennessy, Anna O’Sullivan and Daniel Spencer. Since founding Pegbar late in 2008, we have dramatically developed ourselves as a worthy tool for animation colleges, independent animators and companies throughout Ireland and the UK. Since it’s founding the Pegbar team has grown, it now comprises the skills of Anna Pospieszynska and more recently, Bill Hennessy. FÍS (literally translated as ‘vision’) is an initiative from the Department of Education and Science in the Republic of Ireland. It began as a pilot project and was designed to introduce the medium of film as a support to the Revised Primary School Curriculum (Curaclam na Bunscoile). The pilot ran over a period of three years from March 2000 to March 2003. The project was managed and delivered by Dun Laoghaire Institute of Art Design and Technology , The National Film School, where the FÍS office is located.

The pilot was an unequivocal success. It informed the development of a comprehensive Resource Pack for teachers (now available online in the Teaching Resources section of this site). The printed Resource Pack will be made available to all primary schools. Following on from the pilot, the FÍS project was extended (or mainstreamed) to 50 schools nationwide in 2004.

The FÍS pilot was supported by AIB Group through its Better Ireland Programme and IADT
